A customer brought in their EVO 8 GSR with an abundance of problems — one being a tune issue preventing it from running to full potential, and also losing coolant in the process. We took a systematic approach to diagnose and resolve every underlying mechanical hurdle to bring this JDM icon back to peak performance.

How It Came Together
Diagnosed
Head lifted under boost, causing significant coolant loss and internal damage to the head gasket. Every fault found and documented before a single part was ordered.
Rebuilt
Head gasket replaced, full head service completed, ARP head studs fitted, timing belt replaced, and a full 100k service — all fluids replaced, ACD/AYC system flushed.
Aftermarket
Installation of a high-flow stainless exhaust manifold and a complete intercooler kit with high-temp silicone pipes — freeing up the restrictions holding this engine back.
Overview
A responsive tune delivered 220+kW at all four wheels. The customer's verdict: "Little yet feisty beast corners like it's on rails." A JDM icon restored and then some.
